Travel-rate questions.

Which year applies to my trip?

GSA rates use fiscal years starting October 1. A trip in October 2021 uses fiscal-year 2022 data. Split travel across the boundary.

Is lodging paid for every travel day?

The estimate uses one lodging night per day except the departure day. Reimbursement normally depends on actual eligible lodging costs up to the limit.

How much are meals on the first and last day?

The federal allowance is 75% of M&IE for the first and last day. A single travel day is counted once. Supplied meals or agency rules may reduce it.

Do these rates cover Alaska or Hawaii?

No. GSA’s CONUS dataset covers 48 states and DC; non-foreign overseas rates are set by the Department of Defense.

What if my city is not listed?

Check the county and GSA locality definition. Locations outside a listed non-standard area generally use the standard CONUS rate.
